Backend Engineer

The frontend is what people see. You're the reason it works. As a Backend Engineer Intern at Mounterra, you'll work on real server-side logic, databases, and APIs powering live products. This is not a "complete these modules" internship. You'll be contributing to actual systems, solving real architectural problems, and learning what scalable backend development looks like in a startup that's actively growing. You'll sit close to the founders, understand product decisions firsthand, and write code that directly impacts what clients experience. What You'll Do 1. Design and build RESTful APIs that frontend and mobile apps depend on 2. Work with databases — structure, query, and optimise data efficiently 3. Handle authentication, security, and core business logic 4. Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure seamless integration 5. 1. Solid understanding of backend fundamentals — APIs, databases, server logic 2. Working knowledge of Node.js, Python, or any backend language 3. Familiarity with databases — SQL or NoSQL, either works 4. Someone who thinks about edge cases, not just the happy path 5.
